TVE General Rules & Regulations

  1. Trinity Valley Exposition, Inc. reserves to its Officers and Board of Directors the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations and arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions and differences in regard, thereto, or otherwise arising out of connection with or incident to the show.
  2. Any person who violates any of the General Rules or Special Rules as published in this catalog will forfeit all privileges and premiums won.
  3. The Management reserves the right to amend or add to these rules as it, in its judgment, may deem advisable.
  4. Entry Information:
    1. All entries must be in by the dates stated in Important Dates and Deadlines accompanied by correct entry fee and signed by the appropriate County Extension Agent or Agricultural Science Instructor, parent and exhibitor
    2. Entry forms for the Livestock Show that are not filled out properly may be rejected. No entry fee will be refunded.
    3. Entry fees
      1. Commercial Heifer, Market Goat, Market Lamb, Market Steer, and Market Swine - $20.00 per exhibitor/per head – Alternate animals $10.00 per head. Commercial Heifers may be double entered in Breeding Beef show, but must pay a separate entry fee.
      2. Breeding Beef, Breeding Goats, and Scramble Calves - $20.00 per head Scramble Calves will automatically be entered in Breeding Beef Show. Breeding Beef and Breeding Goats late entries will be $30.00 per head.
      3. Market Rabbits - $20.00 per pen – Breeding Rabbit - $5.00 per head.
      4. Market Broilers - $20.00 per pen plus price of birds.
        Minimum order of 25 birds and no maximum order; exhibitor may show only one pen in October
      5. Livestock Judging Teams - $20.00 per team – Individuals - $5.00
        Day of judging - $25.00 per team – Individual - $10.00
      6. Home Economics – Youth - $2.00 per item – Adults - $3.00 per item
        Home Economics Late Entries – Youth - $3.00 per item – Adults - $4.00 per item
      7. No refund of entry fee will be made due to failing grades of exhibitor making them ineligible to exhibit their project.
    4. Continuous ownership and care of the animal must be maintained from tag-in to show time by exhibitor at exhibitor’s home residence. (see General Rule #11 for exceptions)
    5. Family Plan – All exhibitors in the same family unit after paying $20.00 per exhibitor may show any one of the market animals entered in the family plan name. All exhibitors’ names must be included in the family plan. There must be one animal of the same species per exhibitor to be listed on entry form. There is no limit to the amount of animals you may tag in May and June. Exhibitor may only exhibit one (1) market animal in each division in October.
    6. Commercial Heifers, Market Goats, Market Lambs, Market Steers, and Market Swine are not limited to how many exhibitors may tag-in, but, they will only be allowed to show one animal in each market division at the show in October.
    7. All market exhibitors must have a Release of Liability and Indemnity Agreement/Junior Market Certification Form at the May and June tag-ins. Market Rabbits must have same form on file at the TVE Livestock Office by September entry deadline.
    8. Quality Counts deleted from Livestock Show on March 9, 2010.
    9. Market Divisions only are open to active Chambers or Liberty County FFA or 4-H members enrolled in a public elementary, secondary or home school in Chambers or Liberty Counties, and to active Chambers or Liberty 4-H members whose primary residence is in Chambers or Liberty County and attends a private school in Chambers, Liberty, or adjacent counties.
    10. Commercial Heifer, Market Goat, Market Lamb, Market Steer, and Market Swine animals exhibited will be subject to being drug tested. (See drug policy established by TVE Board of Directors).
    11. Exhibitors may enter any or all market divisions.
    12. Breeding Beef and Breeding Rabbits is open to active 4-H and FFA members enrolled in home, public, private, elementary or secondary schools in Liberty and Chambers Counties and surrounding counties. Breeding Goat Show will be open only to Liberty and Chambers County exhibitors. Home Economics division is open to Liberty and Chambers County only.
    13. All breeding animals owned by partnership can be exhibited as long as both parties are active 4-H or FFA members enrolled in home, public, private, elementary or secondary schools in Liberty and Chambers Counties.
    14. No late entries will be accepted in Breeding Divisions. Repealed 2009.
    15. Mailed Market Rabbit entries must be postmarked on or before September entry deadline.
    16. By entering the Trinity Valley Exposition, exhibitors give permission for their livestock to be used in the Livestock Judging Contest.
    17. By weighing-in/tagging-in a market animal at the TVE, all parties do grant permission for their project to be visited during the feeding period at location where animal is being fed and/or raised.
  5. Stalling:
    1. No stall space will be utilized for displays, paraphernalia, etc., unless otherwise designated by the Livestock Show Superintendent.
    2. Bedding sand or saw dust will be furnished by the show.
    3. Each 4-H Club and FFA Chapter is responsible for preparing and keeping stalls kept cleaned in their area.
    4. Only uniform signs will be placed over individual animals. 4-H Clubs and FFA Show Cards may be used. No For Sale signs will be displayed.
    5. No Exhibitor will be allowed in the barns before 5:00 a.m. and no exhibitor will be allowed to remain in the barns after midnight. All animals must be in stalls or pens from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Animals, after feeding and watering, must be back in stalls by 6:00 p.m.
    6. Stall Awards will be given for Beef and Swine.
  6. Showmanship Contest:
    1. Contest is open to exhibitors in the following Divisions: Breeding Beef, Breeding Goat, Commercial Heifer, Market Goat, Market Lamb, Market Steer, and Market Swine.
    2. Showmanship contest will be held at time listed in each division rules.
    3. Each contestant must own and exhibit animals entered in the current year of TVE.
    4. There will be no substitutions of exhibitors in showmanship contests.
    5. Each Showmanship Contest will be divided into two age groups: (1) Junior Showmanship – 13 years and under and Senior Showmanship – 14 years and over. Age is based upon the exhibitor’s age on the day of the judging.
    6. Peewee Showmanship contest will be held in Breeding Beef and Breeding Goat divisions only.
      1. Contest is open to youth not younger than 5 years of age nor older than 8 years of age and not in 4-H.
      2. Exhibitors may use only animals exhibited in the Breeding Beef or Breeding Goat Division.
      3. Exhibitors will be allowed assistance from one, and only one, sibling or parent throughout the entire contest.
      4. Exhibitors will register on day of contest at the Livestock Office on times listed in each division’s rules.
  7. General Admission & Passes:
    1. Gate Admission:
      1. Adult - $5.00
      2. Students/Senior - $3.00.
      3. Rodeo - $8.00
    2. Exhibitors will receive one parking pass per family, and 1 exhibitor badge per exhibitor. This allows one vehicle to park in the designated livestock parking lot, and each exhibitors badge allows the exhibitor onto the fairgrounds as well as into each nightly rodeo performance.
    3. Weekly pass- $20.00 (Children under age 3 free)
    4. Trailer Permit - $10.00
    5. Trailers staying on grounds must have permit that may be purchased at the Livestock Office. The permit must be displayed on the trailer at all times and may not be attached to any other trailer other than the one, which the permit was purchase.
  8. Auction & Premium Money
    1. Exhibitor may sell only two items total, whether in Youth Auction, Freezer Sale, or combination with the exception of Grand Champion and Reserve Champion auction items.  Any exhibitor awarded two or more Grand or Reserve Champions must sell each Grand or Reserve Champion but no other market animals.
    2. Premium money will be paid in the Breeding Beef and Breeding Goat Divisions.
    3. Premium will be awarded as follows:
      • 1st Place - $15.00
      • 2nd Place - $10.00
      • 3rd Place - $7.00
      • 4th Place - $5.00
  9. Animals, Equipment and Feeding
    1. Sifted animals must be removed from the grounds immediately after sifting.
    2. Any animal found to have its physical features altered or tampered by surgical instruments for the purpose of improving its conformation or appearance in the show will be disqualified and ruled ineligible to compete for or retain premiums.
    3. No trim tables will be allowed in barns or on concrete areas unless authorized by the Livestock Superintendent.
    4. If needed and authorized by the Livestock Superintendent, a grooming area will be set up in the Small Animal Arena before the Youth Auction.
    5. Feeding of cattle will be allowed in designated areas only. See rule 5E for feeding times.
    6. No cattle may be tied or groomed in the area in front of or on the south end of the cattle barns or alleyways.
    7. Exhibitor is responsible for the feeding and caring of their animals remaining on the TVE grounds for the Youth Auction until the time the animal is released to packer or buyer. Advisors and leaders may take responsibility of all of their chapter's/ club's animals. Each person designated to care for animals shall sign in at the livestock office to denote which animals were cared for.
    8. No camper trailers will be allowed in the Livestock Parking Area. Livestock trailers with living quarters will be allowed for hauling livestock only – you may not stay in living quarters at night.
  10. Livestock Check Out Procedure:
    1. No Livestock/Tack may be removed from the TVE fairgrounds without a release form.
    2. Release forms are available in the Livestock Office.
    3. Required Information:
      1. Vehicle License Number
      2. Trailer License Number
      3. Number/type of animal that will be hauled in trailer
      4. Equipment/tack in trailer.
      5. Person who will be hauling animals/tack.

    5. Security will check all information at gate
  11. Ownership, Residence and Off Premises
    1. All Market Division Animals (Commercial Heifers, Market Broilers, Market Goat, Market Lamb, Market Rabbits, Market Steers, and Market Swine) must be owned and cared for by the exhibitors at the exhibitor’s residence.
    2. All Market Division exhibitors must be under the supervision of their County Extension Agent or Agricultural Science instructor.
    3. All Market Division entries must be kept at the exhibitor’s home residence. Anyone not keeping their Market Animals on their home residence must have an Off Premises Request in the Livestock Office at time of weigh-in/tag-in. Off Premises Request must included:
      1. 911 Address of where animals is being kept.
      2. Reasons for keeping animal away from home residence.
      3. Name and phone number of person where exhibitor is keeping the animal.
    4. Livestock Advisory Committee will approve/disapprove all applications within two (2) weeks.
    5. If for any reason market animal has to be moved from home residence you must contact Market Division chairman immediately.
    6. All Market Division entries can be visited at least once during the feeding period. If entry is found being raised off residence and the Livestock Advisory Committee has not granted permission, the exhibitor will be barred from showing the animal in October.
  12. Substitution of Exhibitor:
    • Substitution of exhibitor will not be allowed for exhibitor unable to show due to failing grades. The Livestock Advisory Committee will consider all other substitutions.
  13. Ethics Rule:
    • Each exhibitor, his or her parent(s) and /or guardian(s) agrees to abide by the General and Special Rules published in the current years Livestock Catalog and/or amendments available at each tag-in and TVE Livestock office. Any violations of the rules or any exhibitor and/or parent(s) guardian(s) found to have participated in unethical Practice (i.e. (1) approaching buyers for the purpose of asking to exchange, return, or purchase any sale item(s) (2) the showing of any animal that has been administered any unapproved/unlabeled medication (see drug policy established by TVE Board of Directors) will forfeit all prizes, awards, premium won, and will be barred from exhibiting for three years at Trinity Valley Exposition
  14. Important:
    • Trinity Valley Exposition, Inc. including its officers, directors, servants, agents and/or employees, herein called “Stock Show” and/or Exhibitors, including parents and/or legal guardian are not responsible for any loss, damage or injury to the person, animals or property of Exhibitors, or Exhibitor’s agents, servants, family and/or employees, regardless of how such loss, damage or injury is occasioned and by who Stock Show. Exhibitor further agrees that Exhibitor will protect, indemnify and save a harmless Stock Show from any and all claims, suits and/or judgments (including the cost of defense of any such clam/or suit by Stock Show brought by anyone as a result of any loss damage or injury to any person, animals or property occasioned by any action or inaction of Exhibitor, either solely or in conjunction with Stock Show or anyone else.) Stock Show assumes no responsibility for the correctness of any descriptions given in the TVE catalog. Exhibitor agrees to abide by all Rules and Regulations of the TVE. Furthermore, TVE is not responsible for lost or stolen animals, materials and/or supplies. TVE will not be libel for any damages, fire, theft, accident, etc.
